Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how Neversleep Enterprises (Pty) Ltd, trading as RideRadar SA ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the RideRadar SA application and website (the "Service"). We are the data controller in respect of your personal data and comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Data we collect

  • Account data — name, email address, password (hashed), display name.
  • Driver profile — city, vehicle type, daily/weekly earnings goals.
  • Trip data — zones, fares, distances, durations, surge multipliers, wait times you log in the app.
  • Location — approximate location to surface relevant zones (only when you grant permission).
  • Usage & device data — pages visited, actions taken, IP address, device type, browser, operating system, crash logs.
  • Support communications — messages and metadata when you contact us.

2. Why we collect it & legal basis

  • Provide the Service — show forecasts, alerts, trip logs (performance of contract).
  • Account creation & access control — authenticate you and protect your account (performance of contract).
  • Customer support — respond to your queries (legitimate interests).
  • Security & fraud prevention — detect abuse and protect the Service (legitimate interests / legal obligation).
  • Product improvement & analytics — understand how features are used (legitimate interests).
  • Marketing — only with your consent; you can opt out at any time.

3. Who we share data with

We share personal data with the following categories of recipients:

  • Yoco — our primary payment provider, for South African card and EFT payments, subscription management, and invoicing.
  • Paddle — our reseller and Merchant of Record for international card payments, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing.
  • Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring, and providers used to power in-app features.
  • Professional advisers — legal, accounting, and audit advisers, where required.
  • Authorities — when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

4. International transfers

Some of our service providers (including Paddle) operate outside South Africa. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and adequacy frameworks recognised under POPIA.

5. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Trip data is retained for the lifetime of your account unless you delete it. After deletion or extended inactivity we delete or anonymise your data.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including POPIA), you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

8. Cookies & similar technologies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate product usage. You can manage cookies in your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break sign-in.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in-app or by email.
